  7. in a electric mixer, cream the butter until smooth
  8. add the vanilla extract. with the mixer on a low speed gradually beat in the sugar. add the milk and beat on high speed until the frosting is light and fluffy (3 - 4 minutes)
  9. of you want you can also tint the paste with food color
  10. wait until the cupcakes are cool and the add the frosting. if you want to pipe the frosting, i like to use a large Wilton 1M
