The ingredients needed to make Dahi Pakhala !!:
  1. Get 2 cups cooked rice (I used boiled rice here)
  2. Prepare 1 medium sized Onion thinly sliced
  3. Prepare 1 green chilli crushed in a motar and pestle
  4. Make ready 1 tsp mustard seeds
  5. Make ready 1 pinch Asafoetida/Hing
  6. Prepare 1 sprig curry leaves
  7. Make ready Few mint leaves (I used coriander leaves)
  8. Make ready to taste Salt
  9. Prepare 1 tsp mustard oil
  10. Take 2 dry red chillies (adjust to taste)
  11. Get 1 big cup water
  12. Make ready 1 cup curd
  13. Make ready 1/2 lemon(adjust to taste)

Steps to make Dahi Pakhala !!:
  1. Firstly take the cooked rice and mash it well. When you cook rice in an open vessel and later when it is cooked we strain it, that starch water can be used. And usually, the rice should be soaked in this starch water overnight. It should ferment in it. It cools down the body heat,it had like this.
  2. Here I didn't do it, so followed the step as shown in some videos. This is the picture of the mashed cooked rice.
  3. Then keep the ingredients ready. Here I have sliced onions thinly and kept it aside.
  4. The other ingredients used.
  5. Now heat a non stick kadhai. Put mustard oil and let it get heated.
  6. Then add the mustard seeds.After it splutters add in the asafoetida powder/ hing,dry red chilli broken into pieces & curry leaves.
  7. Fry for a minute.Then later turn off the gas.
  8. Now add the sliced onions, crushed green chilli and salt in the rice.
  9. Then pour in the tadka.
  10. Pour in the water and curd, mix well.
  11. Put salt and squeeze in the lemon juice.Then garnish with chopped coriander leaves or mint leaves.Mix again.
  12. Serve immediately.Enjoy Dahi Pakhala.
